"Tai Chi Chuan, the great ultimate, strengthens the weak,
raises the sick, invigorates the debilitated,
and encourages the timid."

Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient exercise embodying China’s most profound concepts and principles of health and movement. It offers true harmony between body and mind. Based on softness and awareness instead of force and resistance, Tai Chi Chuan (also referred to as tai chi, taiji, or taijiquan) has been recognized for centuries as a method of self-cultivation and an unexcelled form of self defense. In Chinese, Tai Chi means “Supreme Ultimate.”
Tai Chi movements help calm the emotions, focus the mind, and strengthen the immune system. Practiced at a slow and even speed suitable for people of all ages and abilities, Tai Chi promotes relaxation, straight posture, strong legs, and balance.
The School of Tai Chi Chuan of Northern Virginia has taught the Yang family-style short form as developed by Grand Master Cheng Man-Ch'ing. We've taught beginners and advanced students at our Arlington, VA location since 1978.
We’ve helped thousands of people experience the restorative, relaxing, and spiritual powers gained through regular practice of this ancient Chinese exercise. Tai chi helps us stay younger as we grow older.
